Ante-Natal Clinics
Maternity care is shared between your doctor and the midwife. When you think you
are pregnant, please make an appointment to see your doctor. He/she will book
you in to the appropriate hospital. Throughout your pregnancy you will be
monitored by the community midwife and at the surgery by your doctor.
Asthma/Respiratory Clinic
We hold a dedicated asthma/respiratory clinic on Thursdays. Our specialist
respiratory nurse will monitor your condition and give expert advice.
Child Development and Immunisation
The Child immunisation clinic is held from 0930 – 1100 on Tuesday mornings.
Routine six week checks for babies are done by appointment with the doctor on
Tuesday afternoons.
The Health Visitor holds an open access clinic for child development and advice
at Wistaria Surgery.
Contraception and Family
Planning
A full range of confidential advice and services including emergency
contraception, Implanon and coils are available by appointment with the doctor
or Practice Nurse.
Coronary Heart Disease Clinic
This clinic is held on Monday afternoons from 1330 – 1600hrs. Patients who
suffer from angina or have, in the past, had heart or circulation problems,
strokes, or mini strokes will be invited to this clinic.
Diabetic Clinic
Patients with diabetes are invited to attend the surgery for an annual diabetic
review which will consist of an appointment with the Practice Nurse followed by
an appointment with the doctor.
Influenza Vaccinations
According to national recommendations we offer annual ‘flu vaccination to
patients over the age of 65 years and patients with chronic diseases such as
heart, chest and kidney diseases and those suffering from diabetes. It is also
recommended for those patients who have had a splenectomy.
Please contact our Reception staff towards the end of September for further
details and dates of the forth-coming clinics.
We also offer patients over the age of 65 years and in the above at risk groups
a pneumococcal vaccination. In most cases it is only necessary to have one
vaccination against pneumonia. Please ask at reception for details.
Minor
Surgery
A wart clinic is held every Tuesday morning from 8.30am – 9.30am
(except after Bank Holidays).
We also have a fully equipped treatment suite. Minor surgical treatment is
available on Thursday mornings for conditions not requiring the facilities of a
main hospital.
Primary Prevention Clinic
This clinic is held on Friday mornings and is run by the specialist Practice
Nurse. Patients with high blood pressure will be invited to attend this clinic.
Smoking Cessation Clinic
The smoking cessation clinic is held on Thursday afternoons from 1400 – 1600hrs.
Travel Advice and
Vaccination for those Travelling Abroad
We hold weekly travel clinics on Tuesday mornings from 1100 - 1230 when we
provide a full range of travel vaccinations and advice for those proposing to
travel abroad.
Well Women Health Screening
These clinics are held every Tuesday and Wednesday morning. We recommend that
all women from 25 years to 64 years have regular cervical smear tests. You will
be sent a reminder when your cervical smear is due and asked to book an
appointment with our Practice Nurse in the Well Woman Clinic. At this appointment the nurse will also give
you advice on your general health and on breast self-examination. Please inform
us of any change of address.
